Weekly pool cleaning
check up list
1. Brush your pool
Using a brush once a week can
cut down on the time spent vacuuming your pool and will go a
long way toward keeping your pool clean and sparkling.
A steel bristled brush with a telescoping pole is one of the
most commonly used pieces of equipment in pool care.
You will use this brush to scrape algae from the sides of
your pool which will keep algae from growing and taking over
your pool. Always begin brushing from the shallow to
the deep end and brush toward the drain to allow the filter
to pick up as much dirt as possible.
2. Vacuum your pool
Vacuuming should also be done
weekly to help cut down costly filter repairs or
replacements. Even if you have some type of automatic
pool cleaner or a pool cover you will probably need to
occasionally do a manual vacuum of your pool.
The first step is to roll out
your vacuum hose the entire length of the pool and attach
one of the ends onto your vacuum head and telescoping pole.
At this time you want to place the vacuum head on the bottom
of the pool with the head pointed across the pool to keep it
from rolling down to the deep end causing the pole to prop
against the pools edge. Your next step is to prim the
hose. This is done by pushing the hose straight down,
hand over hand, until you reach the other end. This
procedure should remove any air in the hose.
Now you can remove the skimmer
lid and basket. You will attach the hose into the hole
at the bottom of the skimmer making sure that the suction is
tight. If there is any loss of suction you may need a
threaded hose adapter to get a tight fit. Once you
have achieve the suction at the vacuum head you can begin
the process of vacuuming. Never raise the vacuum head
out of the water while it has suction as you will fill the
hose with air and lose your prime causing possible air take
into the pump. To
vacuum effectively roll the vacuum head over the bottom of
the pool in a uniform method picking up debris as you go.
Once you have filled the basket you should notice a slight
decrease in suction pressure, at this time you want to stop
the pump and empty the basket. If you gain a
significant amount of pressure you will need to stop the
pump and backwash the filter. Keep going with this
procedure until your pool is clean. |
